Steamboat's Signature Events: 2008

June 1: 27th Annual Steamboat Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K
One of the most scenic runs in the Rockies! Due to the popularity of the event, registration is limited and fills quickly.

June 4:  Y.E.S. Golf Tournament
Sponsored by the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association's Ambassadors to raise funds for scholarships for graduating Routt County seniors who intend to study business. The Golf Tournament takes place at the Sheraton Golf Course.

June 7: The 4th Annual Rio 24 Hours of Steamboat 
24 Hours of Steamboat World-class mountain bike race boasts over 80% singletrack with a 2,000 vertical feet climb per lap. The singletrack climbs Mt Werner through aspens and overlooks the beautiful Yampa Valley and Steamboat Springs. 
 
June 12-15: 20th Annual Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup
More than 350 Mustang owners from Colorado Mustang clubs will convene in Steamboat for the weekend. A variety of great activities including an autocross at the Meadows Parking lot on Friday and a show and shine on Saturday. Free and open to the public.

June 29-July 4: 105th Steamboat Cowboys' Roundup Days and 4th of July Celebration
One of Steamboat Springs' oldest traditions, the Cowboy Roundup Days salute the spirit of the old west. Join us for our weekend of events including the Vectra Bank Fourth of July Parade, firework display, flapjack feed, entertainment, cattle drive through town and rodeos.

July 12-13, 2008: 28th Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and 34th Art in the ParkSteamboat Balloons
Steamboat Springs' most colorful weekend of activities.  Join us on the launch field in the mornings to watch the balloon pilots take off then make your way over to Lincoln Park for Steamboat's biggest art and crafts festival. Art in the Park on Saturday from 9-5pm and Sunday 9-4pm. Mark your calendars cause this weekend is a local and tourist favorite! 
 
July 18-20: Steamboat Mountain Soccer Tournament
This is a non-elite tournament for athletes who are competitive but are not at the premier/elite level. This tournament promotes healthy competition. All proceeds from this tournament pays for entry fees to other tournaments and coaching. Games will be played on Friday, Saturday and will conclude with championship matches on Sunday.
 
July 31-August 2: 5th Annual Steamboat Wine Festival
A wine wonderful weekend with 2 grand tastings featuring over 500 wines, food and wine seminars, wine maker’s dinners, chef competitions, live music and much, much more. You must be over 21 to join us. Admission varies by event, for more information call Team Sage Productions at 877-328-2783.
 
With spectacular mountains as a backdrop, triathletes will swim ¾ mile in beautiful Lake Catamount, ride 20 miles on mostly flat paved roads, and end with a 4 mile run on mixed pavement and dirt roads. As with all 5430 Sports events, the Steamboat Springs Triathlon will be more than just a “local fun run.” Registration is open now. 

August 30 - Sept 2: 4th Annual Wild West Air Fest
Wild West Air Fest takes off Labor Day Weekend with the entertainment in the air, on the mountain and all over town! It’s a Labor Day celebration for the whole family featuring vintage and warbird airplanes, remote controlled aircraft, hang gliders, para-gliders, airplane rides and displays and classic cars at the Bob Adams Airport in Steamboat Springs. 
 
Round eight of the Rally America National Championship. This two day National /Regional event will cover nearly 110 stage miles in and around the resort community of Steamboat Springs, just a short drive west into the mountains from Denver.
The final series events for the season were spectacular in form with over 9 entrees in the regionals of Rally Colorado. They were battling it out to the end for their prospective titles.
 
Ongoing Events for Summer 2008
 
Formed in 1988 in order to foster an appreciation for fine music, to present diverse programming with a focus on chamber music, and to stimulate the cultural, educational and economic environment of Colorado's Yampa Valley. Throughout the summer, enjoy chamber music concerts every Wednesday and Saturday evenings, the Different Tempo Series on Fridays, Youth and Family Concerts every Tuesday and free Music on the Green performances at the Yampa River Botanic Park every Thursday. With a schedule like this, there’s simply no excuse to miss a Strings production.  The intimate 540-seat Pavilion overlooks breathtaking vistas of Mt. Werner, Emerald Mountain and the beautiful Yampa Valley making it an ideal venue to hear world-class music.

June 13-August 16, Fri/Sat Nights: PRCA Pro Rodeo Series
steamboat springs summer activities rodeo Professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls compete for prize money and silver buckles in bareback and saddle bronco riding, calf, steer and team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding.  The rodeo has been a Steamboat tradition for generations.   All events are sanctioned by the professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

May 3-Sept 20: Steamboat Springs Running Series
Continues its dedication to the pursuit of running and bringing people together in the Steamboat Springs area.  The Steamboat Springs Running Series includes a variety of challenging and fun runs from 400 yards to 26 miles over some of Colorado's most spectacular terrain! Run through snow, creeks, over rocks, up ski hills, and more.
